Forthcoming album with the incredible Tim Dahl on electric bass, the extraordinary Matt Mitchell on piano, the lacerating Olli Hirvonen on guitar, the tenor juggernaut Matt Nelson and the alto extraterrestrial Nick Lyons on saxophones, and the struggling to keep up Sam Ospovat (me) on drums and electronics. Compositions are primarily open melodic improv frameworks to experiment with the placement of these players in harmonic polyrhythmic relationships, and to feature the effects set-up I created for the drums.

Conceived in June 2021 at the Brooklyn waterfront warehouse I was quasi-squatting during the pandemic—a giant, disused industrial space overlooking the Upper Bay and Lower Manhattan and strewn with the detritus and waste of Central American sweatshop labor and New York evictions—the group’s sound and influences run the gamut from Decoding Society, Lennie Tristano, and late Sonny Sharrock, to Cecil Taylor, Tim Berne and even Lydia Lunch.
